Earthborn Magazine is Looking for Contributors
(And I Think You Should Say Yes)
Ana-Maria has touched Devoted in so many ways. As a Devoted Energy Coaching School graduate, a LUSH Business Mastermind Luminary, our sacred virtual assistant and tech channeling empress, Devoted has grown and been created in part, woven through her magic.
Ana-Maria is now also the editor-in-chief of a new magazine, and what a breath of fresh air. I have been searching for a printed magazine that sings to all the layers within me.
It’s called Earthborn Magazine, and I sat down with her to talk about what this publication is really about and how you can contribute. Here’s what she shared:
What is Earthborn Magazine?
“Earthborn is essentially my journey of asking questions that I don’t have answers to, and I truly believe that together we’ll get there, but we need each other. The idea behind the magazine was to voice and explore different ways of doing things. We all kind of know the way systems are now are not the best for everybody. They’re the best for very few people. And the way forward is different. It’s not what we expect it to be. It could be different for different groups of folks, but I think we need to explore what that looks like together.”
Yes, please. This is the kind of publication our world needs right now.
The Details:
Frequency: Twice a year (summer and winter)
First edition: March 2025, in time for the Spring Equinox (how perfect is that timing?)
Format: Digital AND print (an actual physical magazine you can hold in your hands!)
Cost to submit: Free
Sacred reciprocity: Ana-Maria will promote you across her channels and feature you in the magazine. In return, she asks that you share a post when the magazine launches and when your piece goes live.
What She’s Looking For:
Ana-Maria isn’t interested in corporate speak or toxic positivity. She wants real, embodied truth. The messy parts, the grief, the breakthroughs, all of it.
Six broad themes:
Matriarchal intelligence and relational leadership – What does that kind of leadership look like? What could it look like?
The psychology of change – Normalizing that this shit is hard. The grief of what we’re leaving behind, what we’re walking into. Who do we need to become to navigate this changing world?
Food sovereignty – What you put in your body has a deep impact on what you’re able to handle when moving through change.
Regenerative ways of living – From Earthship architecture to choosing local artisan markets over big box stores. It doesn’t have to be anything big. It could be the smallest ways we can change our behaviors.
Arts, poetry, and photography – Storytelling through different mediums.
Rituals and embodiment practices – Getting you out of your comfort zone, even just a little bit.
What You Can Submit:
Personal essays
Photo essays
Poetry
Interviews
Art (paintings, drawings, whatever wants to come through)
Rituals and embodiment practices
This round, she especially wants photo essays, rituals and embodiment practices, and personal essays. But if poetry or something else wants to come through? Submit it. Trust what wants to emerge.
Here’s What I Love About This:
You don’t need to write something brand new. If you have a Substack piece, a journal entry, something that already exists that fits? Submit it. Your medicine doesn’t have an expiration date.
Ana-Maria provides a Contributor Inspiration Guide with all the details AND a guided meditation to help you drop into what wants to come through. Because of course she does…she learned from the best in Devoted Energy Coaching School. 😉 Just kidding.
One contributor expected to write an essay and ended up with raw, powerful poetry about grief and cultural pressure during her time living in India. Let what wants to emerge, emerge. Trust the process.
I’m contributing. I already know what story wants to come out, and I’m sitting with her meditation this weekend to see what else shows up.
A Note on the Creative Process:
Ana-Maria shared something important: “I do believe that your creativity, when you drop in and you meet what wants to come through, it’s probably the best way for you to get an understanding of what to write or what to create.”
So if you’re not sure what to contribute, drop into the meditation at the end of the guide. Based on everything you’ve read, something will come out. That much I can almost guarantee.
No Exclusivity Required:
Unlike many magazines, Ana-Maria isn’t looking for exclusive content. If you already have a Substack piece that highlights what you do and what you stand for, it could be a really good match with some tweaking. Sometimes journal entries can turn into their own little thing. This could be pieces you already have that could be amplified in a magazine format, leading people back to you in a different way.
